Clam Chowder

Drove up from Savannah, Ga to surprise my mother for Mothers Day. Figured I’d see as much family as possible while I was up. I LOVE Marshfield. So I met my cousin in the Levitate Parking lot and walked over to the Ocean House Coastal Grille.

I was so taken by the design and feel of the place. It immediately transported me to exactly what the name implies.

The Edison bulbs at the bar hanging from driftwood planks, lulled us in the incredibly comfortable bar stools.

A good selection of food well portioned that meets any budget. They had TONS of TVs at the bar.

A separate function room where a private party was held, and huge naturally lit dining area with a mix of booths and tables.

It honestly felt like Marshfields Millwharf, if you’re familiar.

The service was great and the food was excellent. I think this is my favorite place in Marshfield.

The clam chowder is off the charts!!

Welfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary

Supported by the Massachusetts Audubon Society

Beautiful place. Stunning Views of the Marsh and Dunes of the Bay Side of Cape Cod.

Every year I try and make the family Pilgrimage to Cape Cod. It's heaven on rainy days and paradise on sunny days.

We didn't do family vacations to far away places.....everyone traveled to CapeCod from all over the world.....we just got in the car and drove.

The Audubon Society has multiple properties on the Cape. But Welfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary is one of my favorites. This place is EASY to hike. Mostly flat with very small and gentle hills. There are some roots, so be cautious.

The walk through the marshes is so centering. The Oaks and Scrub Pines frame the vast ocean view all the way out to the Bay. Herons and Osprey are frequently seen as well as other more common shore birds; the North American Oyster Catcher, Sandpiper, Common Tern, Plover, SeaGulls and Hawks. The last few years, even the Swallow Tailed Kite has been frequenting coastal areas beginning in April.

The Sanctuary Exhibits many artifacts that have washed ashore on these historic beaches. There are many pieces of Baleen Whale jaw bones and spines.

This particular year, I was enamored with the Bees. They were completely fearless of me. One even landed on my hand, did a couple circles like a dog lying down for a nap, and just took off.

There are so many ways to take in the historic and natural gifts of the cape. Don't miss an opportunity for this one. It's a safe all ages family hike, in partly shaded marsh land. Bathrooms on site before the hike. Pack food and water it may be flat, but some days are hotter than others.

Tell them Jeff from MAHI OUTFITTERS sent you.
