A little back story on my philosophy of choosing who to take you and your family out into the wild.

About a hundred years ago I was in an Adobe Hotel with a macadamia nutshell driveway in some slice of heaven in Africa. There for work, but always wanted to take a Safari Tour. I called the night before from the City south and west of us. The hotel manager was absolutely amazing. I told her I was a group of three. And we didn't have a ton of money to spend. But was there a way we could do a safari? She promised she'd look for the most affordable option for us.

With a great sigh of relief and a bit of excitement I hung up and went to bed. 5 minutes after watching the local news reporting how low on the food chain I was in my current surroundings, I redialed my friend at the next hotel......and told her...money is NO object. I want the best, safest, most experienced guide with a big gun, a sat phone and a backup helicopter.

Having spent zero time captaining a boat in open water I group it into the same attention to detail, safety and experience that I'd want from.....say.....a pilot.......or brain surgeons.....or African Safari Guides......all the same skill set to me. I die if they cut corners.

Dont skimp on charter boat captains. It's nice to give 'em a tip as well.

That safari was an experience of a lifetime.

I haven't tried these guys yet, but I'm hoping they do a spear fishing jaunt. I've been working on a spear gun for a few years now and am anxious to find some good visibility out off some local reefs.

These guys are all over Facebook and Instagram with their latest catch.

Boats look safe and capable. Rates look really good.

Vagabond Cruise Lines

This is a place out of Hilton Head. Now before you gasp expecting this outrageously priced trip, this is a group trip that doesn't travel far offshore. I find it an amazing value. For less than $70, you immerse yourself in the fishing culture of the south. A great opportunity for families to experience the low country way of harvesting the abundant deliciousness from the sea.

On this unique cruise, you learn shrimping. And we all know....shrimpin ain't easy. Except for this time. The crew will actually package up some of the catch for you to take home.

Captain Josiah Riffle took me out not too long ago. We got into some really good fishing off a wreck.

This was my first trip in South Georgia Coast and it didn't disappoint.

Great Rates and a well cared for beautiful boat.

He supplied all the gear.

Great experience.
